Hybrid Battery Reconditioning

It's been a year in the making but this version of the CedarHybrids reconditioning and test bench can recondition 28 battery modules overnight while I am sleeping... Each module is controlled by an individual microprocessor that reports cycling data to the cloud and I can control the recycling process from my phone. It's a beautiful thing.

Thinking to buy a junkyard battery?

So you love your Prius but it is being fickle...... You got that triangle of death and you know a $4000 new hybrid battery is out of the question.

Yes. You can buy a junk yard hybrid battery, but why would you when you can buy a replacement battery for $995 plus valid core or have your precious Prius hybrid battery reconditioned to as 'like new' as it can be for $500 plus parts.

You can also follow Youtube DIY reconditioning procedures with a hobby charger. It will only take about a month to complete the process. Good luck with that or you can message us here at CedarHybrids and schedule an appointment to get your hybrid car back on the road.

That's where we at CedarHybrids come in. Simply, remove your battery. There are plenty of Youtube videos showing how easy it is. Bring it to our shop and we will run full diagnostics on it with proprietary microprocessor based Automated Test Equipment identifying bad and weak battery modules. These will be swapped for fully reconditioned ones. New life will be added your old battery pack.

If you like, we will remove, repair and reinstall your battery for a fair price depending on vehicle model.

Fully rebuilding your pack by CedarHybrids is $500 plus parts.

Some pictures tell it all…

A client said his Prius had the triangle of death on the dashboard and his diagnostic app showed error code POA80. Wanted me to take a look at his battery and run diagnostics on my test bench. As you can see in the right part of the picture, there was a battery module that had exploded. It true. A picture is worth a thousand words.

I dissembled the pack. Removed the exploded one and the one beside it, because it was leaking. Replaced the two and put the pack on the bench. After cycling, a couple more modules were identified as bad. After cycling a 3rd time to balance the pack, I let it sit overnight to insure all modules would hold their charge.

The Gen 2 Prius is back on the road and the owner a happy camper.

Now that’s a bad pack!

Yikes! That is one bad battery pack. In a good pack all the modules are tightly grouped together. The tighter the grouping the more balanced the pack. Notice along the x-axis timeline there are modules discharging immediately. These modules have no capacity to hold a charge. This pack has over a dozen bad modules that will not hold a charge.
